'On This Day' Men’s Cross Country Team Places Fourth at Wells College Invitational
'On This Day' is a Wells College Athletics feature series taking a look back on events that occurred on this day, Oct. 20, eight years ago in 2012.
AURORA, N.Y. – Senior captain Brayden Shumski posted the second fastest time on the afternoon as the Wells College men's cross country squad placed fourth at the Wells College Invitational held on the campus of Wells College on Oct. 20, 2012. With only 29 points on the afternoon, the Mustangs of Morrisville State College captured first place in the event.
Shumski's time of 23:16.82 ranked only 16 seconds behind race leader Austin Townsley of Morrisville State, who recorded a time of 23:00.67 to lead the field of 46 runners. Stephen Armstrong completed the course with a time of 24:26.29 to rank 11th against the field. Tony Petri finished 22nd overall, crossing the line with a time of 26:09.99. Paul Hernon crossed the finish line in 24th place, turning in a time of 26:25.03.
Tim Lambert placed 33rd overall as an individual, finishing with a time of 28:03.72. Andrew Judson completed the course with a time of 28:16.37, while Zach Tripsas finished in 31:30.13. Andrew Eiffert rounded out the field for the Express with a time of 31:54.92.
