Women's Lacrosse Continue Hot Start with Offensive Power and Strong Defense
New Haven, CT – Wells College Women's Lacrosse was back in action Sunday against the Falcons of Albertus Magnus. The Express continued their goal scoring onslaught, outscoring the Falcons 21-2. This two brought the two-day total for Wells of 43 goals scored, only allowing 5 goals against. Wells continued to spread the scoring around, with seven different players getting on the score book. First year Jade Epp continues to score in bunches for the Express, racking up five goals scored on 11 shots. Senior also Julia Barnwell also added five goals, first year players Hannah Lamont and Logan Lomanaco and senior Lydia Thomas added three more for the Express. Seniors Isabella Ciancio and Grace Kahl each added one goal.
The Express dominated the game, going up 9-0 after the first quarter and never looked back. Wells out-shot the Falcons 41-4 with a clean game with only five fouls called on the Express.
The strong defense for Wells continued on day two of their New England trip, causing 22 turnovers. Both goalies for the Express saw action, with senior Lauren Spiegel allowing 0 goals and Taelor Cid only allowing two goals to go through. Lamont continued her dominance with the draw control from the start of the game, adding 12 more, giving her 25 for the weekend.
The Express are all over the leaderboard for the AMCC Conference Individual Leaders; Epp is in second in the Conference with 10 goals, also leads most shots taken with 20, and Thomas is on top with 5 assists.
Wells is back on the road next Saturday, March 2nd traveling down to Bryn Athyn for a 3:00pm start.
