The Wells College women's lacrosse team went on the road and took on second-place Medaille College on Friday, April 27, and the host Mavericks came away with a 22-9 victory. Medaille improved to 12-3 overall and 7-1 in the North Eastern Athletic Conference. Wells is 5-4 overall and 4-4 in the NEAC. Both teams have clinched berths in the NEAC playoffs next week.
Medaille used a nine-goal run to build a decisive advantage in the first half. Wells got first-half goals from Mackenzie Maloney, Renee Bartosz, and Chloe Marcus. Medaille led 13-3 at halftime.
In the second half, Maloney scored twice, Bartosz and Marcus added their second goals of the game, and Savanah Connors and Madi Walikis also scored.
Maloney finished with three goals. Bartosz and Marcus each had two goals and an assist. Julia Smith had two assists. Walikis and Connors each had a goal and an assist.
Anna Bozeat made 14 saves and a team-leading four ground balls. Alisa Hines had four caused turnovers, and Maloney led Wells with six draw controls.
Wells wraps up its regular season Saturday, April 28 at Hilbert College in a 3:30 p.m. game.
