Epp, Express Take Advantage of Mounties Miscues in First AMCC Victory

AURORA, NY - The unknown of venturing into a new conference did absolutely nothing to slow down the Express women's lacrosse squad on Saturday afternoon against the AMCC's pre-season #1 ranked Mount Aloysius Mounties. The Wells women attacked the Mounties defense in waves and never let up, steamrolling their way to a gigantic 15-2 victory in their AMCC debut.

Leading the charge was Alberta, Canada native Jade Epp, who powered the Express offense to the tune of 4 goals and 2 assists. Epp's aggresive offense forced the Mounties into countless defensive mishaps, leading the visitors to concede 8 man-down goals against the Wells women.

Lydia Thomas used her veteran leadership to organize the Express offense, scoring 3 goals and nabbing 1 assist while also setting up numerous Wells chances through her strategic movements.

Rounding out the flurry of Express scoring was Logan LomonacoIsabella Ciancio, and Hannah Lamont, who eached finished with 2 goals on the day.

Lamont also drew ever-closer to the single-season draw control record, as she recorded 8 DC's in the game, totaling an unbelievable 20 draw controls on the week. In addition to Lamont's individual mastery on the draw, the Express as a whole out-drew the Mounties 12-4, adding to their nationally noteworthy draw control percentage.

A plethora of Wells standouts are currently dominating the AMCC leaderboards, with the Express having each of the top-4 goal scorers in the league, and the top-3 assist-getters in the league as well.

Not only have they taken over all the offensive spots, but the AMCC's defensive leaderboards have also fallen victim to an Express monopoly, as Lauren Spiegel and Taelor Cid own the top-2 save percentages, goals against, and goals against average in the confernce. Spiegel is also 3rd on the total saves list, and is rapidly moving up the ranks after two star-studded defensive performances this past week.

The Express are now halfway through their 2024 season, and set their eyes on a midweek showdown against a Bryn Athyn squad that's off to an excellent start of their own. That game will take place next Wednesday in Bryn Athyn.
