
'On This Day' Middlebrook Earns Third Overall for Express Women’s Cross Country Team at Wildcat Invitational

MARCY, N.Y. – Emily Middlebrook placed third amongst the entire field as the Wells College women's cross country team competed in the seventh-annual SUNYIT Wildcat Invitational on Saturday, Aug. 31, 2013. The women's team placed sixth out of 12 teams.
With a time of 20:50, Middlebrook trailed only two runners from Utica College in an overall field of nearly 150 women runners with a 6:43 pace. Since joining the squad as a freshman in 2011, Middlebrook has led the Express in all 17 of her races. Freshman Deaven Theriault posted a strong time in her first collegiate meet, running at a 7:05 pace to finish in 21:58 on the 5K course, good enough for 21st place overall.
Sophomore Katie Lamanna turned in a time of 22:20 while junior Anastasia Benson was fourth on the Express with a time of 23:54. Freshmen Jenn VanWormer and Bailey Brown each stayed within the top-100 runners, posting times of 26:35 and 26:47, respectively, to finish 93rd and 97th.
Junior Veronica Frisenda posted a time of 28:55, freshman Macy Smolsky finished with a time of 32:08 and junior Paige Fralick completed the course in 34:34. Oswego State College placed first amongst the field, with Utica and William Smith College rounding out the top-three teams.
