Women's Volleyball Wins Second Conference Game in a Row
Wells College women's volleyball hit the road for their second conference match-up on Thursday night. This time, they took on the Hilbert Hawks.
In the first set, Wells took a commanding lead thanks to kills from Elise Peacock and Marta Corrall Cajigas. Brianah Dawson finished off the Hawks with a kill late to give the Express a 1-0 lead (25-19). In the second, the Hawks came out with some energy and played the set to a 15-15 tie. Despite a few kills from Miah Williamson and a service ace from Sarina Soto, the Express found themselves down 24-19. Wells then rallied off 5 straight points to tie it up at 24! From there, Miah Williamson came up with a huge kill followed by two attack errors from Hilbert giving the Express the win in the second set (27-25). After a big comeback win, the Hawks were determined to not go quietly. They didn't let the Express get more than a three-point lead for the majority of the third set. Late in the set, Elise Peacock sent home a kill and Miah Williamson secured the second conference win for the Express with a service ace! Wells won those one 3-0 over the Hawks.
A special congratulations to Roosa Armstead-Lehti who recorded her 1000th career dig in this match-up! This places her 4th on the all-time list for women's volleyball and she is only a junior!
Next, women's volleyball will head to Carlow this Saturday for another conference match-up.
