Saturday afternoon brought the second game of a back-to-back for the Wells Express women's lacrosse team.
On Friday they fell on the road to Mount Aloysius and they hoped to rebound today at the La Roche College Redhawks.
The start of this one did not exactly go the Express' way as they found themselves down 2-0 at the end of the first and 3-0 early into the second. The Express then went on a 6-0 run thanks to goals from Isabella Ciancio, Clara Lima, and Mackenzie Powers to give Wells College a 6-3 lead heading into halftime. The Redhawks battled back to cut the lead own to 6-5 but the Express were able to find the back on the net consistently with Clara Lima, Mackenzie Powers, and Lydia Thomas all scoring for Wells in the third quarter. Lauren Spiegel in goal for the Express was able to keep the Redhawks at bay so the Express could continue to build their lead. The fourth quarter was all Wells as they buried 4 more goals with one coming from Olivia Maish. The Express would win this one by a score of 18-9.
Express Stat Leaders:
Clara Lima: 9 goals
Mackenzie Powers: 4 goals
Lauren Spiegel: 12 saves
