Women's Lacrosse Defeats Cedar Crest
The Wells women's lacrosse team traveled to Cedar Crest College on Saturday for a road match-up.
The Express were still looking to capture their first win, and it would not be easy on the road.
Early in this game, you could tell the Express was hungry to capture their first win when in the first 5 minutes Lydia Thomas found the back of the net to give the Express a 1-0 lead. the Express went on to score 3 more goals in the first, 2 from Mackenzie Powers and 1 from Olivia Maish, and 1 from Clara Lima. Wells grabbed a 5-1 lead by the end of the first. In the second quarter, Mackenzie Powers, Lydia Thomas, Olivia Maish, and Julia Barnwell all were able to score as the offense continued to put pressure on Cedar Crest. At the half, the Express were up 10-3.
In the second half, the Express was able to continue to put pressure on Cedar Crest. Even though Cedar Crest came out in the second half and scored 2 quick second-half goals, Mackenzie Powers and Julia Barnwell came right back and helped secure a 13-6 lead heading into the 4th quarter. In the 4th, Wells College found the back of the net 7 more times to gain their first win of the season by a score of 20-6!
