The Wells College women's basketball team has displayed recent steady improvement offensively. The Express were within a pair of scores of playing visiting Hartwick College even in the latter half after scoring 25 second-half points. However, a slow start kept that second-half production from getting the team closer to victory after a 73-43 final on Saturday, Nov. 23.
It was the third time in as many games that the Express had increased its offensive production both in total points and second-half points.
Brittany Kropp had the hot hand from outside the arc and scored 15 points from threes at nearly a 43 percent success rate. She finished the game as the team's leading scorer with 17 and was joined by teammate Jordan Jacobs as Wells' double-digit scorers.
Jacobs finished with 15, while adding three assists and a pair of blocks. Maritza Scharoun led the team in boards with eight and co-led the team in steals with Lorissa Parks at three. Jennifer McCumber added a half-dozen boards to go with four points.
The women's basketball team will play its next game at home against Houghton College on Wednesday, Dec. 4 with a 6 p.m. start.
