The Wells College women's basketball team went on the road and won 62-52 on Saturday, Feb. 11 at Gallaudet University. Wells dominated play in the second quarter by outscoring the Bison 26-10.
Wells improved to 8-11 overall and 7-7 in the North Eastern Athletic Conference. Gallaudet is 2-20 and 2-16 in the conference. Wells will play Sunday at noon at Wilson College.
The Express trailed 20-17 early in the second quarter, but responded with a 22-5 run over the last seven minutes of the quarter to build a 39-25 halftime advantage.
Ashida Cooper scored 36 points to lead Wells, with 16 of those coming in the second quarter.
Shelby Medovich scored 15 points. Miranda Mingen had a career-best 10 rebounds. Kamarie Maturine led Wells with 11 rebounds.
The Express was 15-for-20 at the free-throw line.
