The Wells College women's basketball team won for the fourth time in its last five conference games with a 54-34 victory at Penn College on Wednesday, Jan. 24 at Williamsport, Pa.
The Express improved to 6-12 overall and moved over .500 in conference play with a 5-4 record against North Eastern Athletic Conference opposition. Penn College is 2-14 overall and 1-7 in the NEAC.
Kamarie Maturine was the leading scorer for Wells with 13 points and she pulled down a season-high 15 rebounds, including 10 offensive rebounds.
Julia Smith connected on three 3-pointers for Wells and finished with 10 points.
Yanna Ososkalo added nine points and three steals. Carley Ryan had seven steals and Dallia Rorick had five assists.
Wells pulled away in the second quarter by outscoring Penn College 15-4 in the period. Wells led 30-14 at halftime.
Wells held the Wildcats to 34 points, the lowest scoring total of the season for any Wells opponent. The Express forced 23 Penn College turnovers and Wells owned a 49-38 advantage in rebounds.
Wells is back in action Tuesday, Jan. 30 at Keuka College for an 8 p.m. game.
