Wells Express Athletes of the Week 3/12

Christa Koagel and Confidence Burrowes have been selected as the Express Athletes of the Week!

Christa Koagel was selected for her stunning opening-day performance. A first year from Parish, NY, Christa got it done both in the circle and at the plate, shutting down opposing batters while also contributing to many of the runs scored in Wells' opening day wins vs York College. In game 1 of the doubleheader, Christa dominated as the pitcher for the Express, stiking out an insane 12 batters while only allowing 1 run in a 15-1 victory. Christa also batted very well in both games, going 2-for-5 with 4 RBI and 6 runs scored in the 2-game sweep over the Cardinals. 

The Express softball squad is off to a 2-0 start, winning both games over York College this past weekend by scores of 18-1 and 15-0 respectively. 

Confidence Burrowes has been selected because of his outstanding striking in a mid-week matchup against Houghton. The powerful spiker landed 8 kills on 12 attacks, an extremely efficient evening that saw him record a .667 kill percentage. His spectacular offensive play also netted him 2 service aces and sparked the Express as they cruised to a dominant 3 set victory against the visiting Highlanders. Burrowes, a junior from East Orange, NJ, will look to stay hot as the Express dive into the heart of AMCC conference play.
