Wells Athletics, ESPN Radio Partner For “Sports Beat” Segment
LANSING, N.Y.
– The Wells College Department of Athletics and 1160 ESPN
Ithaca have announced a partnership for the remainder of the
2012-13 athletic calendar. As part of that partnership, 1160 ESPN
Ithaca will air the “Wells College Sports Beat,” as a
feature in the program dedicated entirely to all 16 NCAA Division
III varsity sports at Wells College.
“We are extremely excited to enter this partnership with 1160
ESPN Radio here in Ithaca,” said Director of Athletics
Michael Borsz. “The partnership with 1160
ESPN affords us an excellent opportunity to reach a wide range of
listeners in highlighting some of our department’s athletic
accomplishments. Listeners in the area will undoubtedly share our
pride and admiration for the achievements of our
student-athletes.”
The segments, which will first broadcast on Tuesday, Jan. 8, 2013,
will air on Between The Lines, a local sports radio show with hosts
Matt Schultz and Eric Silverman
that spotlights local sporting events and athletes in the Finger
Lakes region. Between The Lines also regularly reports and
interviews coaches and athletes from Cornell University, Ithaca
College, SUNY Cortland, and Tompkins Cortland Community
College.
Additionally, the station will air four separate segments that will
feature interviews with a head coach or a student-athlete for the
winter and spring athletics seasons. Rebroadcasts of the
“Wells College Sports Beat” will also air at other
times each week. These can be heard on 1160 AM and http://www.1160ESPN.com.
"This recent partnership with Wells College Athletics is another
example of our commitment to local sports coverage." said President
and General Manager Todd Mallinson. "Wells College
has a great academic reputation, however many people here don't
know that Wells' teams and athletes are very competitive at the
Division III level. We're very much looking forward to providing
this more complete coverage of collegiate athletics right here in
our backyard."
