The Wells College softball team dropped a pair of games in Myrtle Beach, S.C. on Wednesday, March 11 as the team prepares to wrap up its southern trip with a pair of games tomorrow, Thursday, March 12 against Dean College at 1:30 p.m. and Brevard College at 3:30 p.m.
Wells played its best ball in the matinee game against Iowa Wesleyan. The Express gave up a pair of runs in the first and then allowed single runs in the game's final three innings in a 5-0 defeat.
Jennifer McCumber and Olivia Maish led the way with a pair of hits each with Maish adding a stolen base. Hailie Bennett took the loss in four innings of work as Jessica Conover came in relief.
In the game prior to Iowa Wesleyan, Wells took a 3-0 lead after the first two innings before falling 11-3 to Eureka College. Wells had a good game defensively in allowing just a single run in four of the five innings, but the lone inning that the Express allowed more than one run proved to be the difference in the contest.
