The Wells College softball team dropped a pair of road conference games against host Lancaster Bible College on Sunday, April 25.
The Express played the Chargers to a stalemate through five innings of the second game until Lancaster Bible broke through in their last at-bat to take a 5-0 win. In the first game, Wells fell to the Chargers by a 9-1 score after the Express took a brief lead.
Game 1
Wells got on the board in the first inning after Jenna Devora (San Antonio, Tx.) scored Erin Normile (Binghamton, N.Y), who led off the Wells batters with a single.
The Lancaster Bible defense stymied Wells the rest of the way.
Olivia Maish (Palmdale, Calif.) had the best day at the plate for Wells with a pair of hits, while Devora took the pitching loss after allowing eight hits with four strikeouts.
Game 2
Wells and Lancaster Bible battled scoreless through five innings, but the Chargers got on the scoreboard first and took the contest by a 5-0 final in the matinee matchup.
The Express stranded a half-dozen runners and finished with three hits from Devora, Normile and Morgan Adams (Waverly, N.Y).
Maish took the loss from the circle after allowing six hits with one strikeout and was supported by a stout Express error-free defense.
The Express next host Penn State Abington on Sunday, May 2 on Senior Day.
