Policay Named Wells Softball Coach
AURORA, NY – Wells College Director of Athletics Mike Lindberg announced the hiring of Taylor Policay as the college's new head softball coach.
"I am very pleased to name Taylor as our new head softball coach for Wells College. Coach Policay brings outstanding experience as an assistant coach, graduate assistant and student-athlete. Her commitment to the players and dedication to teaching makes Coach Policay an excellent fit with the Wells College community," Lindberg said about his newest hire.
"I would like to thank Provost Speaker and Director Lindberg for this opportunity as I look forward to building a competitive team and a strong program," Policay added.
Policay has six years of softball coaching experience with half at the collegiate level. In addition to spending a pair of seasons as an assistant softball coach at Wells, Policay also served as a graduate assistant and student assistant for Hall of Fame Coach Julie Lenhart at SUNY Cortland while earning her bachelors and master's degrees in sport management.
A role model of a student-athlete, Policay was recognized for her work in the classroom and on the diamond. She received the SUNY Chancellor's Award for academic excellence and was named to the Mid-State Athletic All Conference Softball team while playing for Tompkins Cortland Community College. Policay was also a standout high school athlete for the Lansing Bobcats in nearby Lansing, N.Y.
