Wells Men's Basketball Taken Down By The Tiger Of RIT
Wells College men's basketball continued their non-conference schedule at RIT on Tuesday afternoon. The Express were still searching for their first win of the season.
In the first half the Express offense came out hot grabbing a small lead thanks to three-pointers from Jalen and Jarek Feliz. Ransel Rodriguez assisted on three first-half baskets as well. The Express shot 43% from the floor but only 30% from 3 going 3 of 10 from behind the arch in the first half. The Tigers would take a small lead into halftime, 35-33.
In the second half neither team was able to grab a large lead. The shooting definitely picked up for the Express with them shooting over 50% from the floor and over 40% from three. With 9 minutes left Ransel Rodriguez would receive a technical foul and head to the bench. RIT would go on a small run and take 4 point lead with time winding down. As the game began to wind down, both teams were tied at 75 with 30 seconds left. RIT would get a chance at the line but missed both shots and Terrance Clayton Murphy grabbed the rebound with 26 seconds left. Out of a timeout, the Express would draw up a play for Jarek Feliz but he was not able to finish at the rim through contact and we headed for overtime.
Overtime saw both teams not giving an inch. With one minute left, the Express were down 82-80. RIT would get a quick basket on the other end then send Ransel Rodriguez to the line for 2 shots. Rodriguez would go 1-2 and the Express were down 84-81 with 25 seconds left. Thanks to a defensive rebound by Ty McBride, the Express would get a time-out and the ball with 13 seconds remaining, down 3. Wells College would, unfortunately, turn it over in their final position and drop this road game, 84-81.
Men's basketball will return this Sunday at home when they host Clarks Summit at 4 PM.
