Men's Basketball Takes Road Win At Gallaudet

The Wells College men's basketball team used balanced scoring throughout the lineup and earned an 84-73 win at Gallaudet University on Saturday, Jan. 13 at the Gallaudet Field House in Washington, D.C.

Four players scored in double figures for Wells and two others added nine points each as the Express improved to 4-10 overall and 2-3 in the North Eastern Athletic Conference. Gallaudet is 2-11 on the season and 2-4 in the NEAC.

Macho DeJesus led Wells with 22 points and made five 3-pointers. Tyree Fisher had 16 points, Rich Ross scored 12 and Zach D'Arpino added 10 points. Anthony Nesci and David Dames each scored nine points.

Gallaudet built a five-point lead early in the first half before Wells rallied with a 19-4 run. The Express led 22-12 with 8:50 remaining in the first half. Gallaudet answered back and took a 30-29 lead, but Wells scored the final 10 points of the half and held a 39-30 lead at halftime.

Wells led for the entire second half, other than the game being tied briefly at 41-41. Gallaudet was within two points in the final four minutes, but Tyree Fisher made a jumper and Zach D'Arpino knocked down a pair of free throws to stretch the lead to six points. A 3-pointer by Rich Ross in the final two minutes extended Wells' lead to seven points and the Express closed out the win.

Wells shot 15-for-33 from behind the 3-point line, and was 28-for-54 from the field in the game for a 52 percent shooting percentage.

Nesci had six assists and four steals for Wells. Jalen Tribble and Tyree Fisher each had seven rebounds.

Wells is back in action Sunday, Jan. 14 at Penn State Abington at noon.
