The Wells College men's basketball team lost 72-54 against the Rochester Institute of Technology Tigers on Saturday, Nov. 17 at the Schwartz Athletic Center. Three players scored in double-figures for the Express.
RIT started strongly and took an 11-2 lead to open the game. Wells answered with a 12-5 run to pull within two. The final three points of the Wells surge came on made free throws from DaVontai Crutch. RIT extended its lead to 20 points at halftime.
RIT's largest lead was a 27-point margin at 61-34 in the second half, but Wells fought back by scoring 14 straight points. In the run, Rich Ross made two 3-pointers and Crutch scored five points. The Tigers responded with seven straight points and eventually won by 18.
Ross led Wells with 27 points and made four 3-pointers. Crutch scored 14 points and had a team-leading six rebounds. Jalen Tribble had 11 points, four steals, and four rebounds.
Wells is 0-3 on the year and RIT is 2-1. The Express plays Wednesday, Nov. 28 at Houghton College.
