The Wells College women's volleyball team traveled to Keuka College for four matches with a pair each on Friday, Sept. 3 and Saturday, Sept. 4 at the JMW Recreation and Athletics Center.
The highlight for the team came in the early afternoon in the first Saturday contest when the Express swept Hilbert College with a 3-0 final. Wells finished with set wins of 25-16, 25-13 and 25-18.
Morgan Adams had a strong game on both sides of the net finishing second on the team in digs with 12, third on the team in kills with seven, and first on the team in service aces with a half-dozen.
Leading the team offensively was Lexi Carfi and Caroline Barr with a combined 19 kills with 10 for Carfi and nine for Barr, with the latter also recording four service aces. The duo was helped by Sasha Lamoree's team-high 18 assists.
Defensively, Roosa Armstead-Lehti had a team-high 16 digs for the Express.
In the other three matches, Wells came close to taking sets against Mt. St. Mary (N.Y.), King's College (Pa.) and host Keuka. The Express came within three points against Mt. St. Mary and four points against Keuka to forcing sets to extra play.
The women's volleyball team stays on the road for its next match against Medaille College on Sept. 7 with a 7 p.m. start time.
