Men’s Lacrosse Team Completes First Road Contest
The Wells College men's lacrosse team opened its conference schedule on the road at Hilbert College on Saturday, April 3. The Express had a challenging start and spotted the Hawks a double-digit lead with four of the Hilbert goals coming from Express penalties. However, from the final minute of the second quarter to the end of the game, Wells picked up its game as the teams were separated by just four goals in that span.
Wells scored in each of the final three quarters with tallies from Mikey Petrina (Buffalo, N.Y), Jacob Stine (North Tonawanda, N.Y.) and Quinten Battle (Seneca Falls, N.Y), respectively.
Battle was the team's best player with a half-dozen groundballs, a pair of caused turnovers and a team-leading six faceoff wins from nine attempts.
For the second time in as many games, the Express' first goal was set-up by defender Justin Dude (Hilton, N.Y.). Shane Syms (Scranton, Pa.) also received an assist on the day for Wells.
Jeronimo Camou (Greenwich, N.Y. ) had a team-best seven groundballs while making 13 saves from 35 shots for the Express. Four groundballs came from both Stine and Syms, with a pair each from Trevor Stein (Spencerport, N.Y.), Kevin Schrank (Baldwinsville, N.Y.) and Mohamed Rzane (New York, N.Y.), with the latter registering a team-high three caused turnovers.
