Schwend Takes First in 200 Fly; Women's Swim Finishes Third

The Wells College women's swimming team placed third among five competing teams as the 2018 North Eastern Athletic Conference Championships concluded Sunday, Feb. 18 at SUNY Cobleskill. Wells earned 368 points over the three-day championship, behind champions Cazenovia (706) and Cedar Crest (467). Wells placed ahead of Gallaudet University (310) and SUNY Cobleskill (156).

Kaitlyn Schwend won the NEAC title in the 200-yard butterfly with a time of 2:26.95 in the event finals. It was her second conference title of the championship meet as Schwend won the 100 fly on Saturday.

Anna Bozeat placed fifth in the 200-yard backstroke with a time of 2:52.40. Bozeat swam 2:51.44 in the prelims to qualify for the A Final in the event. She also earned a top-five finish in the 1,650-yard freestyle with a time of 22:36.59 that claimed fourth place overall.

Shannon Simmons finished sixth in the 100-yard freestyle with a prelim time of 1:08.19 and a finals time of 1:08.31.

Courtney Cloutier took second place in the 200-yard breaststroke with a time of 2:47.05 in the event finals, which is the fifth-best time in school history.

Wells wrapped up the meet with a third-place finish in the 400-yard freestyle relay as Bozeat, Amy Storti, Cloutier, and Schwend timed in at 4:19.34.
