Nolan Earns CoSIDA Academic All-District Honors

Wells College baseball player Dylan Nolan has been named Academic All-District by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA). He is the first baseball player in school history to earn the prestigious honor.

For Nolan, it is his first such award during an outstanding career that's seen him excel on the diamond and in the classroom. He joined 10 other players from the state of New York as honorees from CoSIDA's NCAA Division III District 3.

In the shortened 2020 campaign, Nolan finished in the top-three in a half dozen team categories that included being first or tied-first in hits (9), runs (7) and RBIs (6), while finishing third in batting average (.310), on-base percentage (.487) and slugging percentage (.414).

Following a 2019 campaign that saw him become the first player in the Wells College baseball varsity program to receive all-region recognition by the American Baseball Coaches Association, the then-junior also received a third-consecutive All-NEAC selection.

Nolan made a huge impact on a record-setting Wells team during the 2019 season, where he was ranked in the top-30 among all NCAA Division III players in three major offensive categories. Nolan was ninth in batting average (.452), 17th in slugging percentage (.742), and 30th in on-base percentage (.517). He was the team's starting catcher for the third year in a row. Nolan reached the 100 career hits milestone earlier this season and hit safely in 26 of 30 games on the year. In the NEAC, Nolan ranked third in slugging percentage and batting average, 10th in hits, and 12th in RBIs.

The catcher also helped Wells to the best season in program history. Wells established program bests for single-season wins (18) and wins within NEAC play (9) in 2019. The Express won two postseason games in the NEAC Championship tournament and finished third in the playoffs.

During his sophomore season, Nolan ranked third on the team in hits with 35 in 32 games played. He had a team-high 12 doubles with three triples and two home runs. He led the team in slugging percentage at .536 and tied for the team lead in runs scored (29) and ranked third in RBIs (25).

Nolan has also been consistent in the classroom; the business major holds a 3.46 cumulative GPA.
