Keuka Takes Two From Wells Softball

The Wells College softball team fell in both games of a doubleheader against Keuka College on Wednesday, April 5. Keuka won the first game 8-0 and the second game 16-4. They were the first road games of the year for the Express. Wells is back in action this weekend with scheduled games Saturday at SUNY Cobleskill and Sunday at home against SUNY Polytechnic Institute.

Keuka 8, Wells 0

The host Wolves scored two in the first, three in the third, and three in the fourth in a game that was shortened to five innings due to the scoring margin. Wells had three hits in the game, from Hailey Stewart, Baylee Pearce, and Clara DiMino.

Keuka 16, Wells 4

Wells broke through in the top of the first when Baylee Pearce doubled to drive in Naomi Kubo.

Keuka scored three times in the first, second, and third innings and broke the game open with seven runs in the fourth.

The Express scored three times in the top of the fifth. Naomi Kubo and Sydney Cullen had RBI singles in the inning and Baylee Pearce brought in a run with an infield ground out.

Kubo, Cullen, and Autumn McLain had two hits each for Wells. Pearce's first-inning double was the other hit for the Express. Kubo and Jessica Conover shared pitching duties.
